BUSY week!!!
Oh my goodness! Where did this week go? Starting Sunday morning and going through Wednesday night we had revival at church. Last night we had New Convert's Class, and tonight is men's discipleship. I was busy this week helping Stephanie put in her garden. It is so hard to believe that yesterday Jake has been gone for three weeks! Also, tomorrow I will be 13 weeks along in pregnancy! Thank you Jesus that time is flying by!! I'm gonna search today for some tickets to head home. I'm excited to get back and see everyone for a bit.
As for today... I still am in my jammies. :) That can't be good! I have to go run errands I just figured I would catch ya'll up on what is going on. I heard from Jake the last three mornings. It has been wonderful to hear from him and hear a smile in his voice. He said they work pretty hard doing patrols when its their turn to be out there, but when they get down time he said it's a good break. I think they will start doing patrols next week. He got the first two letters that I sent so that was exciting as well. He did say he was able to get some letters mailed off to me, so i'll be stoked when those come in! I ordered a picture book for him of photos full of us together while we've been married and while we were just dating. I think he will love it. I ended up leaving 9 pages blank and was sad when I saw that, but after taking the book to church last night I got some good ideas of what to do on those blank pages. I am gonna pass the book around to people who have made a difference in Jake's life at the church, and let them write him encouraging words, or a small paragraph. It will definitely be something he will enjoy!
I was asking what kind of things he wanted me to include in his next package, and he had a buddy standing there so you hear someone else's voice, and he gets back on the phone and says "Dejager says send a whiffle ball and a bat." I thought that was pretty cute. After discussing with him his options he asked for a puzzle, some coloring books, a hackey sack, and some raquet balls. So i'm thinking i'll go to walmart at look in the toy section for little things to keep them entertained. I am excited we almost have a month down! God is faithful when he says he will take care of his children.
I pray everyone has a FANTASTIC Friday!!! God Bless you all!

Today equals: No fun!!! :(
My plans started out today to go check out some yard sales. Luckily Michelle wasn't feeling up to it, because neither was I. I had taken my last two tylenol last night for a headache that was trying to creep in. I woke up about 8:30 to take a bath, and that is when it all started. I got sick as soon as I got out of the bath. Went and laid down and ate a graham cracker, and threw that up. Went downstairs and made a piece of peanut butter toast, had one bite and lost it. Ate some crackers, lost it. Drank some gatorade, lost it. Took one of the pills they prescribed me for the nausau, and lost it. By this time I had called my mom and she said I better think about going in to the E.R. I called Stephanie and sure enough she said "we're going". She came and got me, and off we went. It really was not as busy as I thought it would be. They got me back fairly quick. The doctor came in to ask my symptoms and he said he thinks I might have caught the bug that is going around. NOT FUN! But good news is, baby and mommy are doing much better after an I.V. and a shot of benadryl and anti-nausua. He checked all my labs and said they all looked great! So that is a double bonus on good news. Thank you Jesus! I am now at home making sure my soup stays down, and off to bed I will go.
Thank you God that you put such a protection around these little ones. Even though they are fragile, you the maker designed for them to be strong at such a young age. I read today on my email my baby is now the size of a lime. I'm at twelve weeks today and hopefully this was the last bang before the morning sickness fades away. I have been getting more energy in the days, but that surely doesn't mean I can last without my naps. :) I did hear from Jake yesterday, he was able to email. He said his buddy Brandon who got moved to a different platoon was there. I don't know if they actually got to talk or not. I'm guessing they did because Brandon's beautiful fiance Sarah is supposed to be sending a picture of them that Brandon had posted on his facebook. Hopefully soon i'll get to share it with you!
Oh I do have pictures to come of Khloe and Sasha's play date. Many of you have seen Khloe in her "play mode" and know she can go on forever. Well I think because of the heat, and just how big Sasha is Khloe finally met her match. We had to keep them inside because I was not sure how Khloe would do outside off a leash. I of course loved my time with Pina. She is such an awesome lady to hang out with, full of wisdom, and laughs! Hopefully I'll get those posted soon! Love you all and can't wait to see you!

Two weeks today!
Wow! To think that two weeks has already passed is absolutely crazy! Thank you Jesus! I just got off the phone with Jake. The way he described where he is was "It looks like Idaho, but a little more dry. It looks like something you would see in a bible story. You see little girls carrying their younger siblings on their back, you see sheeps and goats, and little mud huts." He said that they have gone on two patrols and the people seem nice. He doesn't know when he will get to call again, but he did say to tell everyone hello and he loves you all!
Yesterday was quite the day! Started out my morning by getting sick. :( Not fun! Then, Stephanie and I drove about an hour to Wilmington to get Gingin candies. Seems that these little candies can take the morning sickness away...or at least postpone it for a little while. While we were at the store I got sick again, barely making it outside to a trash can. :( Our trip was then cut short. We went to subway for lunch, and came home. Once I got home I laid down for a quick nap before church. My alarm went off, and I went to roll out of bed and got sick again. I'm ready for this stage to be over with. It seems like the closer we get to the light at the end of the tunnel, the worse it is getting.
Today is much better. I was able to keep breakfast down, have done some laundry, and picked up the house a bit. The sun is shining, and besides a slight chilly breeze it is a beautiful day! I have to get groceries today. Seems the only thing I'm eating these days is peanut butter toast, and drinking milk. Whatever works right? :)
I was reading 1 Samuel today, and it was talking about how Samuel was judge over Israel, but the elders of Israel approached Samuel and told him he was getting old and they wanted a king to rule over them just like all the nations. Samuel went before the Lord, and the Lord said it is not you they have rejected, it is I they have rejected. The Lord then told Samuel to warn the people of what the king would claim as his rights. The people heard what Samuel had to say and didn't care. It made me think... how many times have I done this in my own life. Rejected God for the ways of the world. Traded in all that I believed in just to fit in with the crowd. How often was I warned of what the world would claim as its rights, and still I went towards it, pushing God away. But the good news is... I didn't have to stay there! I serve a God who is faithful, and who took me back no matter how many times I had turned my back from him! Thank you Jesus for setting me apart from the world to let your light shine!
I pray everyone has a GREAT day!!!

Cloudy days call for lazy days...
Well hello friends! Today like my title says is a cloudy day. No rain yet, but I have a feeling its coming. I'm not a fan of rainy days. I like the sun to be shining, flowers blooming, birds chirping. :) The simple pleasures of life. This week has just started but already is off to a hectic start. I heard from Jake on Sunday night. He was able to call for the last time. He said they might have a phone where he is headed but probably will only be able to get phone calls out once every two weeks or so.
Yesterday I spent the day with Stephanie. I got to go with her to her appointment for her baby. She is due a week before me. It was cool to see just the difference between the one week. When I went in for my ultra sound the baby was just laying there all peaceful. That was not the case for Stephanie. :) Her baby was doing karate in her belly. It was cute! I also got to hear her baby's heartbeat. It was a wonderful experience. I was holding her little boy and when he heard the heartbeat he started crying. :( I don't know if it is because he is used to being the baby, and now there is another one on the way, or if he was crying because it looked like the nurse was hurting his mommy's belly. After we left the doctor's office we went to the mall to check on getting some ginger candies to help with the morning sickness. After leaving the mall with no success, we ended up going to four more stores to find out that no one had them. :( We did find out that we can drive about an hour away to Wilmington, and there are some stores there that sell them. We were planning on going today, but it has been postponed to tomorrow.
Last night I got home from Stephanie's and actually had energy, so I grabbed the vacuum and cleaning supplies and started cleaning the downstairs. I got all that I wanted to done in just an hour, vacuuming and all. I was pretty happy...until I went to bed. I tossed and turned and got nauscious the whole night. :( I had to get up and take a bath, and go back to bed. I just kept praying that it would go away, and good news... it did by the time I woke up. Now I'm just tired from not really sleeping last night. Maybe Khloe and I will go take us a much needed nap! :)
I hope ya'll have a wonderful day, and enjoy the blessings that God has for you.

The End Times
As I sit back and watch what happened in Japan today it makes me sad. Lives lost in an instant, hundreds missing or dead, and it makes me stop and think. I wonder if all these people who are missing or dead realized that today would be the day they would meet their maker. Was this just another day at work? How many of those lost and now gone were preparing for this to be their last day? I don't want to say none because there could always be one, but most of these people were just doing their daily routines. Go to work, provide for a family, and were planning on coming home. For many, that is no longer a choice.
I went to church tonight and the sermon was on the "End Times." When I was younger this used to scare me. Thinking that one day the world would be run by an "anti-christ." But God reassured me of something tonight. While I was at the alter praying he spoke and said I've chosen you to be a vessel to spread my word in these last days. To make sure that people know of me, and make decisions to follow me. I know there are some of you who while reading this will think, oh here she goes again, preaching, but I want to tell you what is at stake. I can talk until I am blue in the face, but ultimately it goes down to you personally. Do you have a relationship with Christ? Do you know for a fact if you died tonight in your sleep that you would go to see Jesus, and while at the Judgement, you would be told to come on in to heaven. "Well done good and faithful servant." The bible states that tomorrow is promised to no one. When you look at the things happening in this world you see we are living in the last days. It can be scary if you have read and know what is to come. But we serve a just God. The pastor tonight said that God has poured out his love on this world for 6,000 years, and a time is coming when that love will no longer be felt on Earth. Not because he stops loving us, but that we have rejected him time and time again. That is why God places people in your lives to share his love with you, to challenge you to make a choice to follow Him. But friend, the time is now to repent and give your life to Christ, fully surrendered. You have to make the choice. We can live a life on this earth for 60, 70, maybe 80 years if we are lucky, and all of it be in vain if the whole time we didn't stop and think about our future. Is 80 years on this Earth doing what you want worth an eternity in hell? I challenge you to get your heart right. It's the best thing you can do!! You can find hope, love, peace, strength, in a God that wants to bless you but can't if you don't allow him a chance. Seek your heart tonight.. Ask yourself if you were to die if you would make heaven your home. If you aren't clear you can be! Let me HELP! Praying for you all, always!
God Bless

One Week Down!
After today's wonderful visit to the doctor and getting to see the baby I was thinking, "nothing can top this!" Then Jake called this morning. :) I love that boy! The news that he brought was much more glorious than I imagined. He said him and his buddy brandon were talking about being born again, having a relationship with Christ, and knowing for sure that if they were to die they would make heaven their homes, and I guess there was a guy who was either involved in the conversation or was just listening in, but once Jake and Brandon were done talking the guy walked up to Jake and said, "that salvation you are talking about... I want that for myself." PRAISE GOD! Jake said he didn't get to pray with him right then, but said he will find him after tonight. Oh God how you amaze me! How you've taken my husband, a willing vessel, to another country to preach the goodness that you bring. Thank you father for your grace over their lives. I pray that this is just the start to a revival in Afghanistan!!! Thank you Jesus!
So good news... well besides what I've already shared :) Jake got to Camp Leatherneck safely. He said they went to a brief where they were told how the area was for the men who were just stationed there. He said they only had two injuries, a broken ankle for one guy, and something else, but no casualties. He said it is quiet and peaceful where they are going. I don't know that I would describe a war zone peaceful. :) The bum scoop which if you are unfamiliar with is pretty much word that gets carried down, and most the time a piece of it is true.. :) said that the guys will be staying in their destination for two months, switch out and go to another place for two months, and then switch again for two months. He said if this is true for two months they should have access to the internet and to place phone calls. I wouldn't hold onto that word very tight, just in past experience, but I do know that Jake will be writing letters. :)
He said they should be at Leatherneck for a few more days, after that he doesn't know when the next time he will get to email or call will be. So please be patient if you write an email and he doesn't respond. He said he has also heard that they will be coming back to the company F.O.B. (i forget what fob stands for) but that they will switch out with different platoons to go back and shower, and get supplies, so once a week or once every two weeks I should be able to hear from him. Good news!!! That is more than I expected to be able to. I'm praising God for the phone calls I've received, they have meant the world to me, and helped very much in getting the first week behind us. The countdown is on folks, and before you know it, my husband, your son, brother, friend, will be back home preparing to meet his new baby. :)
If you are wondering if he will get packages while he is gone, it takes about 3 or 4 weeks for them to receive it, but yes he will. Our church has already put out some boxes to be filled for Easter. We have 6 men deployed from our church? I pray that each one of them will be a light where they are headed! God fill them with your wisdom, and give their words conviction when spoken. Save people in these last days, that their lives would get right, and they would choose to make heaven their home! - Amen!
Well I'm gonna try to get some housework done. Just a little bit here and there helps so I don't get too far behind! Please keep Jake in your prayers, and pray for the precious souls over there who do not know Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour. Pray their hearts would be turned to his mercy and grace, and hearts would repent! I love you all!!
God Bless!

BABY HALL!!!
So i just got back from the doctor... Everything looks great! All of my blood work, and tests all came back good. He did a routine check, and used an ultra sound machine to see the baby. Isn't it miraculous how a baby is formed from a cell the size of the end of a pen tip to become a human in nine months? God thank you for the miracle that is growing inside of me. To be part of something so magnificent is a feeling I cannot put into words. I am praying for a friend very dear to me to be able to enjoy this right along with me very shortly!!! Dear Lys, be ready because my prayers are being said for you girl! :)
I do believe Jake caught his final flight. I didn't get an email to tell me it was cancelled. I was talking to him last night and he said that the main base they are going to will have internet. He said the company base has internet because a few people have received emails from people already there. What he doesn't know is how often he will be checking back at the company base. So all depending on that might determine how many emails he will be able to get out. If you do want his mailing address I'm sure he would love to write you a letter. You can contact me and i'll get you his address. :)
I think i'm gonna head back to bed. :) Getting up early for a doctor's appointment can wear a person out. It's a hard life... going to bed at ten or eleven, getting up around ten or eleven, and getting a nap in the afternoon... sheesh :) I pray everyone has a wonderful day. I'll be rejoicing in this new life, and just the opportunity of carrying life inside of me. Seeing the baby sparks something inside. You know that this getting fat, and being sick is all gonna be worth it when the little one is in your arms. Thank you God for blessing us. Oh before I forget... Let me post the first ultra sound picture!
Okay so I really wish you all could see my picture, but this will have to do. In the middle of the screen you can see the head, back, and bum. there are two white dots, one close to the face which is a hand, and one towards the bottom which is a foot. I hope you can see it since explaining over the computer doesn't really work that well. :) But hey, something is better than nothing! The doctor said by the measurements they took the baby is at ten weeks and two days. Since there is not more than seven days difference from my cycle the due date stays the same. So little Hall's due date is set at October 2nd. :) God Bless!

The doctor said by the measurements they took the baby is at ten weeks and two days. Since there is not more than seven days difference from my cycle the due date stays the same. So little Hall's due date is set at October 2nd. :) God Bless!

Lazy Day
Today is kind of a lazy day. Woke up this morning and showered, came downstairs and Jake was on Skype so we got to talk. It's been wonderful to hear his voice and see his face!! I miss that boy something terrible. We have some friends who had their baby yesterday. She is gorgeous! I can't wait until our little one is ready to enter the world.
I'm looking into getting tickets to go home which is exciting!!! I don't like the thought of not being able to take my puppy, but sometimes you gotta sacrifice. The trip won't be as long as I planned, especially spending some much needed time with my dad, doesn't leave a lot of opportunity to see everyone. But I'm trying to plan a second trip to come out this summer sometime.
Well there is church tonight, and the first Baby Hall appointment comes in the morning. I'm definitely excited! I'm praying we get to hear the heartbeat! I hear that the first few months of pregnancy are the worst. You are trying to be excited about being pregnant, but you have the morning sickness, and then you start to get a belly but for a while it doesn't look like you have a baby, it just looks like you are fat. :) I will keep you all posted on how things go tomorrow! Pizza's in the oven... gotta run!
God Bless

A Day at the Beach
This is one pooped puppy! This was her first trip to the beach. We were able to go during Jake's time off before he deployed. :)
I just got off a video call with Jake. Besides the bags under his eyes from lack of sleep it was wonderful to see him! He said the chow hall is feeding him well. He said he's been digging the cereal, especially the Special K... you know trying to watch his figure. :) I told him it's okay, his figure won't be around for much longer once they get to where they are going, but i'll grow for the both of us. :)
Well today's plan consists of working on some well needed house work, getting some laundry done, vacuuming all my dogs lovely shedded hair, and maybe catching a nap. I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel of this morning sickness. Seems like if i listen to what they tell me about not letting my stomach get empty then i'm alright.
I pray everyone has a WONDERFUL day! God Bless

The Strength of God!
HEY!!!!
I've got the blog up and running! Well still a work in process, but at least people can start hearing from this side of the world again. :) It is now 4 days without my husband. It feels unreal at times like he should be walking through the door from work, or just another late field opp that has him coming home later than expected. But one thing I did not realize I would have during this time is strength.
Jake told me before he left that it didn't matter how much strength I thought I had but it was the strength I would receive during the trial to get me through. This has been 100% true! I thank God for the strong people of faith he has placed around me to guide me in this time, and to comfort me. For the family that even though miles away still send their love and comfort through texts and phone calls. Psalms 46:1 says "God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble." Praise God for being that strength. I know I couldn't do it without him. But the most amazing thing about it is not only is God giving me this strength daily, but Jake is being held up by the same strength.
Okay enough preaching :) Moving on.... I have been hearing from Jake. He called today which was an answer to prayer. He has been able to send me text messages through email which has also been an answer to prayer. The hardest thing when he would leave for the field would be no text messages, or phone calls. Praise God he has been able to do both. He should be soon in route to the final destination. Once there he won't be spending as much time at the base as he thought, but should still get some phone calls in and emails. I don't think he is quite sure if they will have internet while they are gone, but that is why we packed him with envelopes and paper. :) I hope this is a good start to a blog and much more to come!!
God bless!!
