Almost Four Months..

I have been horrible at posting pictures.  To be honest.. I've been horrible at taking pictures. :( I am going to try to be better simply because I don't want to regret later.

Last Thursday Steph and I went to Greenville, NC to visit a friend who was admitted into the hospital and put on bedrest.  She is 32 1/2 weeks pregnant and they can't get her blood pressure to come down.  Her husband wasn't able to stay with her the whole time, so Steph and I decided to pack up the kids and make the hour and a half trek to visit Laura.  I had packed some cards to keep us busy for the day.  As we were driving to the hospital we get a phone call from a lady from church asking if we have spoken to Jay (Laura's husband).  We responded no.  The lady said here is his number, call him ASAP.  We called Jay and found out that Laura was having pains and the doctor had come in and told her she would be delivering this baby today.  Steph and I were about twenty minutes from the hospital at this point, and Jay was calling to let us know that he had just left Jacksonville.

We arrived at the hospital, we each got a day pass and headed to see Laura.  As soon as we step through the doors of Labor and Delivery and saw where Laura's room was located, a doctor opened the door and greeted us.  She said, "Great the family is here, we have to do an emergency c section, so which one is coming with us?"  Steph and I both look at each other and have the same response.  We can't our babies need to eat.  Steph went in to tell Laura we were there.  Laura looked up at Steph with big tears coming down her face and asked her to please tell her she was coming back there with her.  Steph said it almost made her cry when she told her we had to feed the babies.  We go out to the waiting room, and about 40 minutes later Jay arrived.  He had missed the whole c section but arrived to find out that his baby had been born.

Grant Patrick Higgins entered the world weighing in at 3 pounds 10 ounces.  He required no oxygen for the first twenty four hours, and screamed when he came out.  For those of you who don't know much about babies, their last organ that needs to fully develop before they are born is their lungs.  When he came out screaming that gave the doctors hope that his lungs were doing their part.  Since then, he has now had to be on oxygen just to help stabilize.  Laura is doing better, but had some trouble in the beginning.  I don't believe that us planning to go that day, and her having the baby was coincidence.  Even though we couldn't go back with her it was still a good trip.  She knew we were there to support her.  I wish that we had planned better and could have been back there to be supportive, but God had her in his hands the whole time.  Please pray for Laura and Grant for speedy recovery!

I said all this because while we were in Greenville, Steph took a picture of Brandon and Addy in the double stroller.  I think almost everyone who passed us in the hallways stopped to comment on our "Twins".  :)  After about the 3rd person we decided it wasn't worth the hassle of correcting them. :)
