Has it already been five and a half months since our little bundle of joy entered the world? It is crazy to look back and think of how much she has changed in this short amount of time. We brought home a fragile little girl who only slept, got her diaper changed, and ate to a smiling, laughing, cereal eating girl. WOW!
First off... I just praise God for the opportunity to be parents. We have an opportunity in this fallen world to raise a child up with a firm foundation on Christ, and this alone is a blessing only God could provide. I praise God for a husband whose faith has grown in such a short time and is an example daily to me at what my walk with Christ can be if I just put in the time and effort. I pray for my brother in law and sister in law to be able to share this same experience! I do believe their time is coming! :) Hold strong Lys, God hears your prayers!!
Addy has grown so much it is unimaginable! For those of you who don't know, (which is most of you) at Addy's four month appointment we were sent straight from the doctor's office to the hospital. The reason being that from her 2 month appointment to her 4 month appointment she had actually lost 6 ounces. We had to stay for two days, and during this time I was strictly pumping and supplementing with formula. During this time Addy was not allowed to breast feed because they would not be able to calculate how much she was eating. Since she figured out how much easier it was to eat out of the bottle instead of working at breast feeding, I eventually had to switch her just to formula. After much guilt and stress over this, I can now look back and realize there was nothing I could have done differently in my situation. I say that because Addy never gave me any indication that she needed more, or that she was not getting enough. The only factor was that she was small. I thought that because Jake and I were tall and skinny she was just the same way. In a sense this is true! She is definitely not the average CHUNKY baby, but she looks a lot healthier now with some meat on her bones. I say all this to say... I know better for next time. :) Thank you God that I don't have to dwell on the past but look ahead to the future. She went in for a weight check when she turned 5 months and she weighed 12 pounds 14 ounces. Thank you Jesus!
Now... We have moved on to cereal. The doctor at her weight check told me to start her on solids. Man this girl does not know what to do with real food. :) It is cute but exhausting at times to watch her try to figure out what to do with her food. This is all part of parenthood and we are making memories as we go! :) I have started tricking her with her pacifier. I give her one scoop of cereal, and then stuff her pacifier in her mouth to make her swallow. It works, right? She is still sleeping through the night and I am a grateful mother because of this. Our day starts around eight, sometimes nine thirty. Whenever she decides to wake up, then I roll out of bed, down the stairs, and make her bottle.
Enough rambling... I have a bunch of pictures... well not really a bunch, but I do want to share some!! I hope you enjoy!
We miss you all, and love you, and wish you were here!!
God Bless!
